Native Language Preservation and Maintenance – CFDA # 93.587
Available financial assistance for Tribes, Alaska Native Village governments and Native non-profit organizations in assuring the survival and continuing vitality of Native languages.

Category I: Language Assessment

  • Project Period: 12 months only

Available financial assistance for projects assisting Tribes, Alaska Native Village governments and Native non-profit organizations for social and economic development and governance activities that foster self-sufficiency in Native communities.
  • Project Period: 12 months to 36 months
  • Thresholds: $25,000 to $500,000

Social and Economic Development Strategies – Alaska (SEDS-Alaska) – CFDA # 93.612
Available financial assistance set-aside for Alaska Native Village governments and Alaska Native non-profit organizations for social and economic development and governance activities that foster self-sufficiency in Native communities. (Note: applicants can apply for SEDS or SEDS-Alaska but not both).
  • Project Period: 12 to 36 months
  • Thresholds: Individual Village projects range from $25,000 to $125,000 per 12-month budget period. Regional non-profit and Village Consortia range from $25,000 to $175,000 per 12-month budget period

Improving the Well-Being of Children / Healthy Marriage Initiative – CFDA # 93.612 (Special Initiative)
Available financial assistance for Tribes, Alaska Native Village governments and Native non-profit organizations to improve child well-being by removing barriers associated with forming and retaining healthy families and marriages in Native communities.

Job Opportunities for Low-Income Individuals (JOLI) Program
The purpose of the JOLI program is to provide technical and financial assistance to private employers in the community to assist them in creating employment and business opportunities for individuals receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and for other low-income individuals.  Projects focus on one of three program strategies:  (1) new business ventures, (2) business expansion, and (3) self-employment/micro-enterprise.

Healthy Marriage Demonstration

Healthy Marriage Demonstration - competitive funding for demonstration projects that promote healthy marriages through any of the following programs or allowable activities

  1. Public advertising campaigns on the value of marriage and the skills needed to increase marital stability and health.
  2. Education in high schools on the value of marriage, relationship skills, and budgeting.
  3. Marriage education, marriage skills, and relationship skills programs that may include parenting skills, financial management, conflict resolution, and job and career advancement for non-married pregnant women and non-married expectant fathers.
  4. Pre-marital education and marriage skills training for engaged couples and for couples or persons interested in marriage.
  5. Marriage enhancement and marriage skills training programs for married couples.
  6. Divorce reduction programs that teach relationship skills.
  7. Marriage mentoring programs, which use married couples as role models and mentors in at-risk communities.
  8. Programs to reduce the disincentives to marriage in means-tested aid programs if offered in conjunction with any of the other seven activities.

Eligible applicants may submit one or more applications in response to this announcement.  This program announcement has eight Priority Areas:

(1) Community Healthy Marriage Grants to Implement Multiple Allowable Activities: Level 1;     - up to five awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $1,500,000 to $5,000,000.

(2) Community Healthy Marriage Grants to Implement Multiple Allowable Activities: Level 2;    -  up to 10 awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $900,000 to $1,100,000.

(3) Community Healthy Marriage Grants to Implement Multiple Allowable Activities: Level 3;    - up to 15 awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $450,000 to $550,000.

(4) Healthy Marriage Grants to Serve Low-Income Married Couples: Level 1;     - up to 10 awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $450,000 to $550,000. 

(5) Healthy Marriage Grants to Serve Low-Income Married Couples: Level 2;     - up to 20 awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $225,000 to $275,000.  

(6) Healthy Marriage Grants to Serve Low-Income Unwed Expectant or New Parents: Level 1;     - up to five awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $900,000 to $1,100,000. 

(7) Healthy Marriage Grants to Serve Low-Income Unwed Expectant or New Parents: Level 2;     - 25 awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $450,000 to $550,000; and

(8) Healthy Marriage Grants to Implement Any Allowable Activity.    - 45 awards to a diverse set of the most competitive applications requesting $450,000 to $550,000.Sample of marriage strengthening vendors

Native Hawaiian and Non-profit American Indian Organization Child Care Grants
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA), Child Care Bureau (CCB) announces the availability of funds and requests applications for its Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 Native Hawaiian and Non-profit American Indian Organization Child Care Grants. This funding opportunity provides funds for up to two child care programs: one serving Native Hawaiian youth; and one serving Indian and/or Native Hawaiian youth. The purpose of these grants is to increase the availability, affordability, and quality of child care programs in areas that have been previously underserved and/or have unmet needs.
